Why isn’t there an example of the kind of tattoo I want in your portfolio?
- Please arrive to your appointment clean and sober. We strongly recommend against drinking the night before, as hangovers reduce stamina. Bring water or Gatorade, and headphones or a book. Be prepared to sit or lie down in uncomfortable positions for at least one hour. Please read through our aftercare instructions before arrival, in case you have any questions.
Can I see the drawing ahead of time?
- We apologize, but we do not send out custom designs ahead of time under any circumstances. When you arrive for your appointment, we will go over the design with you, and any changes or adjustments that need to be made will be made at that time.
How much do you charge?
- Most of our pieces are priced on a variable flat rate. Some larger and more extensive work may be done on an hourly rate of $200/hr. For flat rate pieces, pricing depends on size, detail, color, and placement on the body. As an example: for a palm size tattoo in full color on your arm, you can expect to pay between $300-350. We ask that you please include your budget when booking, and we will do our best to provide an estimate ahead of time. Final pricing is always done at the time of the appointment.
Can my friend come?
- For the most part, we find that people sit better and have a more relaxing tattoo experience when they come alone to their appointment. Not to mention that there are sometimes space or privacy concerns, and honestly watching someone get tattooed for several hours is very boring. That all being said, if you feel strongly that you would prefer to have a friend with you, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate, though we can not make any guarantees.
Can I come in for a consultation?
- In-person consultations are not usually needed. Most things can be communicated clearly through our booking form, and if we have follow up questions, we will email you to clarify. For some larger or more extensive pieces, we may suggest an in-person consultation, but this is rare and not usually preferred.
What is your rescheduling policy?
- We require 48 hours notice for all rescheduling. Less than 48 hours may result in forfeiture of your deposit. We allow for two reschedules within three months before your deposit is forfeit. Please keep in mind that since we generally do not book more than one-two months out, you may have to wait to reschedule until the next booking block is opened.
Do you do touch-ups?
- If we did the tattoo, the poor healing was incidental and not due to obvious picking, scratching, or poor care on your part, we will touch-up the tattoo at no cost within the first year. Please allow the tattoo to be completely healed (at least one month,) before requesting a touch-up. We do not do touch-ups on hands, feet, face, or neck. Touch-ups of other peoples work are considered reworks, and will be charged as new tattoos.
What should I wear?
- Whatever you want as long as you are comfortable sitting for the duration of the tattoo, and preferably clothing you are okay with being ruined. (Tattoos can be messy!) If you’re getting tattooed on your ribs, chest, or torso, please keep in mind that you may be asked to remove your shirt, so please wear appropriate undergarments. The same goes for tattoos on the legs, make sure you wear pants or a skirt that rolls up easily, or have shorts to change into. We are not responsible for ink stains or damage to your clothing.
Why isn’t there an example of the kind of tattoo I want in your portfolio?
- It’s up to you to research and make sure you are working with the correct artist for your project. Custom lettering, photo realism, abstract, large scale Japanese, etc, are all their own styles which take years of focus and practice. There are many accomplished artists who specialize in those styles. While both of us have experience working in a large variety of styles of tattooing, our portfolios represent things that are our original artwork and are in our preferred styles. For things like lettering or fineline, pay attention to the linework in the tattoos shown in the portfolio. For black and grey, pay attention to the shading.
